Jordan Banks' Fight for Life!
Donation protected
Hello, My Name is Joanna Banks-Badum. I am the Aunt of a Handsome, funny, athletic 18 yr old boy named Jordan Banks whose plans to enter into the real estate world after graduation in 4 months have taken a backseat to getting passed today. On January 23rd of this year, my sister took Jordan in for an outpatient scan to find out why/ what doctors originally thought was pneumonia, wasn't going away after treatment with 2 types of antibiotics. After Pulmonary tests that wouldn't read and a scan, they got the results that no mother ever dreams of hearing about her young son. It was a mass that had grown from the size of a tennis ball to consuming his entire lung in less than 2 weeks. They were immediately taken by ambulance 2 hours away to the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Ohio. After a battery of tests, the confirmation came back that it was cancer. A rare form of small cell carcinoma. Even worse, it is in his left lung, liver & brain. He received his first cycle of chemo and will do intermittent radiation. The shock and devastation have ripped through our family. Jordan has always been so active. He just finished his High School football career as a varsity running back. He was looking forward to jumping right into the "real world" and now all of his plans will be put on pause. He has 4 months until graduation and he is determined to be there. As an aunt to my first nephew, the helplessness is overwhelming. I'm across the country and wish I could do more. As you can imagine my sister is heartbroken, but she will do whatever needs to be done to save her baby boy. My sister and nephew will be traveling those 2 hours back and forth to get him the treatment he needs. I thought the least I could do is set up a way to offset some of the financial burdens they will incur throughout Jordan's Journey to healing. They will be traveling by themselves back and forth on most trips as her husband has to keep his job and help take care of their other 6 yr old son. My sister is also taking care of our disabled mother so they will be juggling a lot. The last thing they should be worrying about is if it's affordable. Thanks for any help or shares!
