This has to be the hardest post I have ever written. I am sorry that it’s lengthy. It's packed with a lot of information.

I have been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma (stomach cancer).

After my hiking accident in August, I have had difficulty eating and keeping food down. I have lost about 45 pounds since the accident. In early November, I saw a Gastroenterologist and scheduled an appointment for an upper endoscopy on December 2nd.

They found a large mass at the end of my esophagus where the stomach meets. This explains why I'm having issues with keeping food down and the rapid weight loss.

Within 30 minutes of the procedure, an Oncologist surgeon's office called to tell us to be in their office on Monday, December 5th. During that visit, we got the call with my biopsy results.

We went over the treatment plan and were asked to go down and meet with the Thoracic surgeon on my cancer team.

On Tuesday, I was admitted to Piedmont Atlanta Hospital because I was severely dehydrated. During that stay, I had surgery to place a port line and a stint in my esophagus. I will start Chemo the week of December 12th.

We are still processing everything because it has evolved very quickly.
