Jordan McKee’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Good morning,
On July 18th, my son, Jordan suffered a stroke at the age of 24. Jordan has had a history of migraines with an aura. The doctors believe that his migraine medication constricted the blood vessels in his brain and caused a clot. They ran a lot of test and are still running test to make a determination. Jordan had to have emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from an artery in his brain.
Jordan was a 1st year Health & PE Teacher with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, but since teachers aren’t under contract, they told him that first year teachers would have to reapply for their positions for the upcoming school year. Prior to this incident, Jordan had been applying and interviewing for Health & PE positions for the upcoming school year and working at McCormick and Schmick’s in South Park as a waiter for the summer.
Jordan does not have medical insurance. It ended with CMS on June 30th. Because of this stroke, Jordan is not able to work at this time. I am seeking assistance to help pay for his medical bills from outside agencies. I have applied for Charity Care to help with his medical bills, but was told that they only cover a portion, if approved. I haven’t received a response yet. I have also been in contact with multiple case managers and social workers, but was told that Jordan would not qualify for Medicaid because he is not disabled. Although Jordan is not disabled, his balance is off, he doesn’t have full use of his right arm, his memory has been impaired, and he has trouble cognitively with relaying his words.
I am in the process of going through the HealthCare.Gov site to obtain medical insurance. It has been difficult. Jordan is my only child, and he has a 2 year old daughter. I am a single parent, although he is and adult, and he is not married.
He has had brain surgery, was in ICU for 3 days, had an MRI, 5 CT Scans, 2 EKGs, a ton of blood work, and multiple bedside specialist visits. He also has to wear a heart monitor for the next 30 days.
I am putting together this fundraiser to help pay for Jordan’s expenses: upcoming medical visits, medical bills, (household bills)apartment/vehicle, and care for his daughter.
List of expenses:
Medical Bills= over $100,000 (still coming in)
Medical Visits= $100-$300 (primary/specialist)
Apartment=$800.00 a month
Car payment=$297.00
Thank you so much! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Please keep Jordan and myself in prayer!
