Jordan Meyer Medical Emergency
Donation protected
My son, Jordan Meyer is a hard-working man, supportive partner and loving dad who lives in Nevada. He has primary custody of his son, works full time, cares for his son and is remodeling his first home so his family can have a place to call their own. Jordan's family relies on him to survive and pay the bills. Knowing this, Jordan maintains a healthy lifestyle, because his family is his top priority. This past year has been a very rough year for Jordan, medically.
First suffering from a hernia caused by lifting heavy things at work that required two surgeries to repair it. Later in the year, he had an appendicitis attack while at work. He was working out in the field at the time, he drove himself to the hospital over an hour away. The situation was serious and he again required emergency surgery, which required a 3 week recovery.
Feeling like he had all of his medical challenges behind him, Jordan was feeling stronger than ever... until... Friday afternoon, February 3rd. Just wrapping up his shift before a weekend, Jordan began to feel a sharp stabbing pain in his chest. His arms were weak and the pain radiated to his back. He began to vomit and his heart rate was extremely fast. He immediately went to the hospital where they performed an EKG and CT scan as well as bloodwork. While the EKG and CT scan looked ok, this white blood cell count was extremely high, indicating an infection. They sent him home with pain pills, but oddly no antibiotics. They told him to return if the symptoms persist. Within a few hours he was back at the hospital and they immediately realized it was his gallbladder, suggesting he had gallstones. They prepped him for emergency surgery and found that his gallbladder was so infected that it caused Gangrenous Cholecystitis, and was leaking bile into his bloodstream resulting in sepsis.
Jordan was monitored in the hospital for 3 days before he was released. Full recovery period for this emergency is estimated at one month and his drain tube must remain in for the next 7-10 days.
Jordan was able to use his PTO for his first two emergencies, however, for this emergency, he has no PTO left and has been told he does not qualify for short-term disability.
Please come together with friends, family and community and consider supporting Jordan and his family through this recovery period.
