On August 13, 2018, at 2:49AM, Officer Jordan Wingate (solo driver) was responding to a call of a suspicious persons in the area of 7th Street and Middle Harbor. The marked patrol vehicle traveling Eastbound in the 1900 block of Middle Harbor collided with a civilian car and then a parked semi-truck. Officer Wingate was extricated by the Oakland Fire Department and taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. He is still in a comma, listed in critical but stable condition. The doctors advise that Officer Wingate’s fight to recovery has only just started.
Officer Jordan Wingate is 23 years-old. Officer Wingate started his career with the Oakland Police Department as a Police Cadet in 2013. In 2016 he was hired as a Police Officer Trainee (POT) and graduated from the Oakland Police Department’s 176th Basic Academy on May 2017. Officer Wingate is currently assigned to the Patrol Division.
