Jordan’s Poetry Book

After working and volunteering in Minnesota schools for almost a decade, I’ve spent the past couple years living very frugally to make my dreams possible. It’s been an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience, and I’m so grateful to have been able to put my full time and energy towards my dreams.

A friend and her family are leaving the country next week, and she has generously offered to share her beautiful home with me for the next 9 months in north Saint Paul.

I am planning to use this period of time as an artist residency to make the final pushes towards editing and releasing my first publicly released poetry book.

I created this GoFundMe as a way to raise money to support the creation of a poetry book I have been working towards.

This past summer I have spent hundreds of hours editing and compiling the poetry I’ve written over my life, and now I have a Word Document that is over 200 pages long, with roughly a thousand of the poems I’ve written contained inside (some of them are quite short).

I’ve set the goal as $5000, which would cover all of my expenses for the next 9 months, and give me the space to walk the final roads towards releasing my first book.

Outside of the costs for exploring publishing, the biggest expenses I have are paying the utilities of the house ($200+/month at times in winter, since it’s a big house), and the cost of food and transportation ($50/week, since I’ve eaten mostly beans and rice for years and don’t drive a car).

The rest of the money would go towards supporting the local coffee shops where I get in flow states, and buying art supplies for the book’s illustrations. Donors of $100 or more will receive a free copy of the book upon publication.
