Jordon H. (2nd Heart Transplant Surgery)

Donation protected
Hello and thank you for looking at our go fund me page for Jordon Hensley. Jessica W. (Jordon's mother) and Gage M. (Jordons boyfriend) are making this go fund me to help pay for medical expenses as well as travel/food expenses. Jordon H. is a miracle child who we all love so much. She was born with her heart turned completely backwards. Jordon had 5 open heart surgeries by the age of 12 years old, 1 of them being the heart transplant. Jordon was able to receive a heart from Ashley Paine that was the same age as her, the heart was only 3 months older than Jordon when she received the transplant. Ashleys mother Laurie has stayed in Jordons life ever since the transplant. Jordon also has 2 rods in her back due to how many times they had to do surgeries on her and adjust her chest. Jordon went 16 years without any issues since the transplant until recently. She passed out at work on Jan 29th 2024 and was found unresponsive with no pulse. The vet students at young Willaims animal clinic gave cpr to Jordon and saved her life before the EMT's got there. She was rushed to Fort Sanders hospital and went into cardiac arrest 2 times the first night she was at Fort Sanders Hospital. The doctors did test on her throughout the night and discovered 2 blockages in her heart , one being 99% and the other being 95%. The doctors were able to place 2 stents to open up the flow in her heart. After that an MRI showed she had some damage to her brain from lack of oxygen while flatlining from cardiac arrest. They we're able to take her off sedation and ventilation a couple days after the 29th of Jan. As soon as they took her off everything she was talking and wanting to move around. Her short-term memory was the only thing affected but over the next couple days was getting better. Fort sanders released her on Thursday Feb, 8th, she had stayed in the hospital for 11 days. We knew she would have a long road of recovery; the doctors were already amazed at her progress in those 11 days from coming into the hospital. We took Jordon home on that Thursday and she was ready to take on the world again, she was completely fine on that Thursday night but Friday night Feb,9th she had a seizure/blackout in the bathroom, her mother Jessica rushed into the bathroom and started CPR because we could not get a pulse, roughly 10-20 seconds later Jordon woke up and was cognitive and didn't really understand that she just blacked out until a couple minutes went by. EMT's arrived at the house to access Jordon for any injuries, all her vitals looked good, and they saw no reason to rush her to the hospital that night, which we all agreed to. Jordon was complaining about her chest hurting that night but we knew it was from the CPR her mother had given her since she was still bruised from the 3 times she had CPR on Jan, 29th. When you have a Heart transplant they cut every nerve around the heart, meaning Jordon would not be able to tell if she was having an issue with her heart. Jordon went to sleep after her blackout and did well throughout the night. The next day (Feb, 10th 2024) Jordon had another blackout at 2:30, this time she did not lose a pulse but was still slightly confused on what had happened. The EMT's came again, and we decided to take her back to Fort Sanders Hospital, they discovered her magnesium was low and administered her some, her vitals still looked great at this time. The doctor had advised us to take her to Vanderbilt Hospital which is where they did her Heart transplant 16 years ago. It was raining too bad for them to transport her via helicopter, so they decided to transport her on the ground with a cardiologist ambulance. Jordon was completely stable until 12:14am on Feb, 11th, she flatlined 3 times in 45 minutes at one point for 20 minutes, they rushed her into the Cath lab for a procedure involving a Impella being put in her artery to help her heart stay stable. When she was stable the Vanderbilt ambulance had arrived and we're going to take her to the hospital from Fort Sanders, a 2 hour and 50-minute drive. At 6am we (the family) had made it to Vanderbilt along with Jordon. The doctors have her hooked up to 12 IV's currently and other various medications. The doctors have decided that her body is rejecting her heart, since it's a "foreign organ" to the rest of her body. Right now, her body is not in the condition to be able to receive another heart transplant, the Vanderbilt doctors are keeping her stable and all of her other organs are functioning good at the moment. The Doctors want to put a stent in the main artery that now has a blockage in it. This surgery can be risky, and they want to get in and out quickly. She was taken off the ventilation today and was able to respond to simple commands including shaking her head. Right now, we are all praying her body can become healthier in order for her to be put on the heart transplant list. All we can do at the moment is wait and pray. Jordon is the strongest person we all have ever met; she's been a fighter from the very beginning and is still fighting hard now. Jordon does not have Insurance due to her original grant from Vanderbilt, if she goes on insurance her grant will be invalid for her heart medications, she has to have to live which are very expensive without the grant.
Jordon is currently 28 and loves playing Pool (billiards) and absolutely loves animals. She is very caring for everyone in this world and a true miracle child. Shes fought this battle once and is fighting it a second time, We KNOW she can do it and WILL do it. ANY help is very appreciated and will help us through these hard times. Thank you all for reading our go fund me page and god bless. We are all praying for Jordon.
Below there will also be a link to a youtube video of Jordons story with her first Heart transplant.

Update 2/12/2024: Jordon had a stent put into her main artery today to open up blood flow to the heart again. When your heart is in rejection the arteries will contract and reduce blood flow, which is why she had to have this new stent put in. They also replaced her Impella with a new one from Vanderbilt. Tomorrow 2/13/2024 the board will be meeting to decide if Jordon is eligible for a new heart transplant. Thank you again for all the support and prayers during this time.

Update on 2/17/2024, she is having a difibulator installed this morning which will shock her heart in the event it goes into lethal rhythm, white we wait for transplant. We will be in Nashville anywhere from 4-6 months depending on time of transplant. Please continue to pray for our family but most of all for Jordon. Thank you for all the donations, love and support. It makes me feel good that Jordon is so loved. -Jessica
**Jordon is not on the list yet**
Update 2/24/2024. Jordon has remained stable the past couple of days and will be discharged tomorrow, 2/25/24. The Vanderbilt team discussed her case again last Tuesday and declined her for the 2nd time. Vanderbilt is requiring us to go to routine appointments once a week for the next 4 weeks to show compliance, then Vanderbilt will vote once again to decide if they are going to let her on the transplant list. We have found a place to stay right down the road from Vanderbilt until Jordon can get on the transplant list but it's very expensive. Thank all of you for your Prayers, Support and Donations, this would be much harder finically without you guys. Nashville is expensive especially when you have to live 5 minutes from the hospital in case anything happens. We will continue to up the goal on the go fund me as we hit them. Once again we thank all of you for your support. We will try to update the go fund me as often as we can.

Jordon update 2/27/2024: since she was discharged Sunday, she has been doing good!
St Thomas (a hospital right down the road from Vanderbilt) called today, they are working on getting insurance approval for a transplant. (Could take two weeks) Then they will need to see her in clinic to do their own testing that shows she does need a new heart. Then she should be put on transplant list. Nothing is guaranteed right now but it sounds very promising!!! *Update St. Thomas said that they did not feel comfortable doing the procedure due to the complexity of Jordons body. This was the only reason they said no.

Jordon Update 3/20/24
Jessica spoke with mayo clinic this morning. They have all the records they need and will know tomorrow 3/21/24, if Jordon is approved and if so, she will be scheduled for assessment. If she passes assessment, they will put her on the heart transplant list. Vanderbilt is going back to Dr. review committee on Tuesday March 26th. There will be 3 possible outcomes: they can say no, they can say yes and start doing transplant assessment(same thing mayo would be doing if approved) or they can say deferment and want Jordon to more things before they would reconsider again.
Thank you for the continued prayers and support!!! We love each and everyone of you!

April 8th 2024 UPDATE: Jordon has been approved by Vanderbilt for transplant waiting list. All we are waiting on is insurance approval and some forms to sign. We should receive a second phone call this week 8th-12th when Jordon is approved to be active on the list. Once active on the list Jordon will be able to receive a heart at any moment of any day. We aren't sure how long this will take but once active it could be any time. Hopefully Jordon will receive a heart before the end of April. We are beyond excited to finally be approved for transplant from Vanderbilt. We thank all of you for your support and prayers. We will update again once Jordon is active on the list.
Thank God, and thank you all for the support!
