Jorge Herrera Memorial Fund

Hello, my name is Larry Peseski.

I've started this memorial fund to honor my friend "Jorge Herrera Salmoran".

On July 7th, 2021 Jorge surrendered his life to a fatal swimming accident. Despite the efforts of many he could not be saved. What seemed like a perfect day for a quick dip in the Delaware River on a hot summer afternoon was to be his last day - one before his 33rd birthday and two days before his wife Tania was to delivery their first baby, a boy.

I met Jorge when he was nearly twenty. I had heard he was a good carpenter and painter, and a good guy to work with, so I hired him despite his young age. Over the years I watched as his skills developed and his contractor business became more and more successful. I was always mindful that he started his life in the United States mostly alone having left his parents and siblings and grand parents in Mexico. He had little to no money. He enrolled himself in the local high school and attended as much as he could until he ran out of money. And so he would work. He never asked me for money. He just asked for work. He had strong character and pride. So he made it on his own steam.

There are many things I could say about his character. He was gentle and calm and remarkably kind - maybe thats why the loss of Jorge seems so painful. He was a young man liked by most and loved by many.

Any and all funds collected from your contribution will be given to Jorge's wife Tania to help her manage funeral arangements and hospital costs for the baby and those expenses are coming due now. I will take personal responsibility that every dollar goes directly to her.

My life was better because of Jorge being in my life. He touched many lives in lots of good ways.
