Jorge Ordonez Memorial Fund

On May 9th the world grew to be a darker place when Jorge Ordonez, 57, left this world due to complications of pneumonia.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jorge while working in the Buffet at Barona Casino. I was his supervisor and learned after a Christmas gift that I sent home with the team that he was a father-in-law of sorts to my childhood best friend. My relationship with Jorge was professional but he was hardworking, considerate, and endlessly joyful in every interaction I had with him.
Jorge is survived by his wife Victoria, a daughter, and two sons. Jorge was the provider and backbone of this family and it is impossible to quantify how they will be impacted by his passing. The biggest financial concern currently is the cost of funeral services which is projected to be between three and six thousand dollars.
Jorge was a cook in the Buffet and his lose will not soon be forgotten. If there is one thing I learned having been privileged to manage that team, is that we take care of each other and leaving the group doesn't mean you leave the hearts, thoughts, or prayers of the people who make that kitchen what it is. I want to honor this team's morality by organizing a platform for that consideration to be shared with the family.
My hope is not only that we are able to fund raise to cover funeral costs. My hope is that we are able to band together in honor of the amazing man Jorge has been in so many of our lives and organize drop offs of groceries, home cooked meals, or essential supplies. A little can go a long way to ease the stress at this time for his family.
While money can never buy back the joy and brightness that Jorge shared with the world, our hope is to be able to cushion the financial blow to this family. If you are interested in contributing non-monetary funds please contact me, Natalie Wagner. The funds collected will go directly to Jorge's wife, Victoria Ordonez.
