Covid19: Jorge Vargas was featured in a 5/20/20 article by East Bay Times/Mercury News.
There was a photo of him lined up at a Food Bank in San Jose, while explaining his family's hardship. He had been a server at two restaurants in the area, but is now unemployed and waited three hours to receive food yesterday. He supports his 83-year old mother and is suddenly one of all too many people in a desperate financial situation.
We don't know Jorge personally; but we know he's in need.
Note: Thank you to neighbor Margie Ryerson of the Lamorinda community, for bringing his story to our attention on Nextdoor. This GofundMe page is set up for the Lamorinda (Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda + nearby + ANYONE) to have the opportunity to contribute, to someone in need.
Margie reached out to the reporter and was able to obtain Jorge's phone number and address. Another neighbor will be delivering donations of all kinds (including this fundraiser), in-person in San Jose, CA.
