Justice for Joe

Hi, my name is Frances, the daughter of Jose Manuel Perez Fong, but known by many as Joe. My father was a loving, hard-working man. He loved his family above all, he loved his dogs Chikis, Chico and his furry granddaughter "Grandma". He loved to wax his car for hours, and was a computer nerd if you ever saw one. He loved to game and to stay up all night with my son playing computer games and eating sweets. He knew how to fix everything and anything. My dad could do it all. Being the hard-working man he is, Joe was very excited about a life-changing promotion he had just received. Grandpa Joe as he was called was so excited, the first thing he said about this promotion was he would be able to buy his grandson ANYTHING he wanted now.
Unfortunately, while celebrating his new achievement, he was brutally assaulted which led to his death. He did not see the assault coming, so he was unable to defend himself. While my father was unconscious after suffering blows to his head, the monster who murdered him proceeded to kick my unconscious father in the head and he was placed in a coma for a traumatic brain injury. My dad suffered multiple skull fractures, a jaw fracture, and multiple brain bleeds on both sides of his head and brain stem. My dad was a fighter, he knew he had to say his goodbyes to us before departing from this earth in order for us to have closure. He somehow made so much progress a few days later. He began to slowly recognize me again and our close family members. On his last day, he seemed overwhelmingly calm and told me how happy he was I was there, he shared how beautiful he thought I was and was even asking if I were hungry because even with a traumatic brain injury, that was the kind of man he was.
He was caring and loving even in his last moments. I never wondered if he loved me because this man loved me with his whole being, I could do no wrong in his eyes. He was also a mama's boy even in his older age, he was able to tell his mom he loved her and asked if she could take him home. Before his passing, he greeted his long-time girlfriend with pursed lips and told her how much he loves her. That day was given to us by God and my father. He knew we needed that to be okay.
Joe was caring, he was loyal and he was protective over his family. My father was robbed of his life and his family was robbed of the best man in their lives. His grandson no longer will have the best grandpa, Grandpa Joe. He no longer has his grandpa who was a monumental person in his life. My son will no longer be able to ask to sleep at his grandpa Joe's house or to go out to eat with his favorite person. Joe was the happiest man, he always welcomed everyone with a smile and was super friendly. If you knew him, it was truly a blessing. He was the life of the party and he had a laugh that was so infectious. We would watch standup shows and he would stop breathing and turn red from laughing so hard, it made us all laugh because he was just so funny to watch. Moments like this we will never get back.
My dad's employer did not offer life insurance, all the things that come with an unexpected passing are beginning to arise. If you knew my dad, or if you know how much I love my dad, please find it in your heart to donate in place of cards and flowers although very appreciated. If you are unable, I just ask that you keep our family in your prayers, and that you pray justice is served.
