Jose Solorzano is a 36 year old quadriplegic. He was shot five times and pronounced dead, only to be brought back, unable to move anything from his neck down, and unable to breathe on his own. He has suffered in this condition for 19 years, and has been taken care of by skilled private duty nurses at home, with his family. This is one of the main reasons he is still alive with his complexities of care which he is now in danger of losing.
I am a nurse that really cares about Jose and his well-being. His nurses have suggested for a while that he switched the next should do a campaign to raise money for a Wheelchair assessable van and home modifications. It would make going to his doctors and the hospital much easier. Most important to Jose is going to fulfill speaking engagements. Jose is very blessed and sees his handicap as a blessing because of his ministry and relationship with God. However, he never wanted to do this for himself but now it is different, it is for his parents as well.
His parents are now up in age with health problems. His mother had to stop working early last year, because of her many health issues, including an enlarged heart. His father which had a heart attack about 7 months ago, and recently was forced to retire because his company moved out of the country. As a result he will have to now pay for Cobra insurance beginning in November. it is a total of $1700 a month for the first 18 months, and $2550 a month to extend 11 more months, in order to keep the insurance that will cover his 24 hour nursing care.
This is not just a plea for sympathy, but an act of faith. Any gift will be greatly appreciated and there is no gift that is too small. Thank you and God bless.
