Joseph (Allen) Moore Eye Surgeries

Donation protected
Please donate to Joseph (Allen) Moore to have eye surgeries on both of his eyes. We are hoping to raise $10,000 towards the surgery costs which Joseph is required to self-pay (see below).

At the end of 2022, Joseph had a severe heart attack that almost took his life, and subsequently his employer of 17 years terminated his employment. As a result, he no longer has health insurance, and cannot afford the cost for marketplace coverage due to the fact that he is now on disability. Additionally, based on his cardiologist's orders, Joseph cannot work at this time due to impact of the heart attack combined with complications from Lupus.

After the life-altering heart attack, Joseph also noticed significant changes in his vision which came on rather quickly, and he was informed that he had developed cataracts in both eyes. His left eye cataract is so severe he can only see a bright white light from that eye which automatically closes to avoid the glare. His other eye cataract is also in advanced stages and both must be removed.

Joseph tried to work through the Lions Club who apparently offer a program that assists low-income patients with cataract surgeries, but after jumping through their hoops for for several months, a local board of the Lions Club claimed that Joseph's low monthly disability income disqualified him for their assistance. It was quite a blow after being told that he was a surgery candidate during the waiting period, all while his vision was continuing to diminish even further.

Fortunately, a local eye surgery center has agreed to remove both cataracts, which they have designated as severe. However, without health insurance, Joseph is required to self-pay for the procedures. Therefore, we are hoping to raise the necessary funds to cover the costs, which total approximately $10,000.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
