Joseph Canzoneri Jr fights cancer

Hi, my name is Mary. Joe is my loving husband of 27 years and the father of two wonderful young men, Joseph III & Michael John. Unfortunately, Joe was recently diagnosed with a malignant mass in his throat which has spread to the adjacent lymph node.

Joe's prognosis is good, but treatment will be intense and will require him to recover for approximately 4 months at home after treatment ends. He will have radiation 5 days a week with 4 sessions of chemotherapy during the same 7 weeks. And his recovery time will include physical therapy with a speech & swallow therapist to ensure he returns to full functioning. It's going to be grueling and to quote his chemo Dr, "welcome to hell." Not the best bedside manner, but if you know Joe, he appreciated the honesty.

During the last 15 years Joe has spent countless hours volunteering with the Boy Scouts. He was Cubmaster for Pack 240 for several years followed by 7 years as Scoutmaster for Troop 240. He has been a role model and mentor for many young men in the West Hempstead community, including his own sons who are both Eagle Scouts.

Joe and I have been together for over 30 years and for the last 10 years he has cared for me on a daily basis, without fail, through my health challenges. Now, we need your help to make sure he can focus all of his strength on healing and not worry about anything except his own health.

Your donation would help cover any extra medical bills, copays, prescriptions, unexpected costs and to have a home health aide (not covered by insurance) during the weeks when his side effects are the most intense.
