Joseph “Nooner” Nunez’s Family Memorial Fund

On July 15th in Decatur Texas, Joseph “Nooner” Nunez was killed on his motorcycle while returning home from a trip to Colorado. He had just participated on a week long ride with the Motorcycle Relief Project, a program that assists veterans and first responders with learning how to cope with PTSD. He was coming home with a whole new outlook and vision for the future to share with his family.
But at 1:17 pm, due to the carelessness of another driver, our community lost a decorated disabled veteran, a husband, a step father of three, a Texas A&M graduate / employee, and a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. We lost a friend, a brother, a son.
Now, we are left trying to make sense of it. We are trying to understand how someone who was alway ready and willing to help others, is gone. The man who lived the motto of “Vets Helping Vets” is now at rest. The loss we feel is immense. The loss to his family is not only tragic, but also potentially detrimental.
We believe that all will be well in the long term, however as proven time and again the the Department of Veterans Affairs and the “red tape” can be extremely challenging, and the immediate financial situation of the family is dire. We are asking for assistance, for burial costs, and the many unforeseen additional expenses as his family transitions through this difficult period. When other situations like this have arisen in the past, Nooner never hesitated to reach in his pocket to give what he could. Please help us in honoring him by doing the same in support of his family during this tragedy.
We thank you in advance for all that you provide for the Nunez Family.
