Joseph Ssozi, UG Africa - Transportation

Donation protected
Joseph Ssozi, a pastor and family friend, has dedicated his life to helping others.    His humble heart combined with a relentless pursuit to make the area surrounding his home of Kampala, Uganda better with education, skills and the love of God, has brought him to where he is today.

June 10, 2020 marked 13 years that my family reconnected with Joseph in Uganda, Africa.  Since that day, we have worked together to purchase a water tank for his village, desks for the students (Joseph jars), walls for Blessed Children's school, math kits, handmade dresses, soccer balls and notebooks, chickens for farming, porridge for school lunches and construction of a brick addition to his family home. He has waited a long time for many things. Some have come to pass and many have not.

Prior to June 10, 2007, Joseph worked for years far away from his wife & children washing dishes at the Oyster Bay Restaurant in Cape May, NJ alongside my brother, Todd and me.  He wired every penny he made home to his family in Uganda.  He told us once that Todd and I were among the only ones who ever invited him to our home in the US while he lived there.  He was so grateful for that. He lived with friends from Africa in a small rental on the outskirts of our  seashore town.  If I had known that then I would have had them over every night.

Recently, my family sent Joseph a gift.  He walked 12 miles total to receive it.  Having visited his village in Kampala,  I have traveled the dirt roads to the heart of town and met his children, students and his neighbors who not only love him but rely on him.  Recently, I learned through an email, that this past year he saw his youngest daughter through five  consecutive surgeries that were necessary to save her life. He sold his car to pay for them.

Today, Joseph the same man who taught, built and preached God's word works as a poultry farmer.  Knowing him, he would probably spend the next near decade walking back and forth to work without saying a word.  We would like to do better than that for him.  My family's goal is to purchase Joseph a truck so he is able to continue helping others, transport his livestock and drive into town easier.   If anyone deserves a gift such as this, it is Joseph.  Help us, help him who has helped so many others.  Any amount big or small is greatly appreciated.  Thank you for helping us reach our goal!
