RIP Joseph Thomas Rotondo aka Tom Rotondo

Hi, my name is Daniel Rotondo and I'm raising money for the costs of memorial services for my father, Joseph Thomas Rotondo. He passed away Monday 08/28/2023 at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, NY. He was a loving father of three boys, myself, my brother Ryan, and my deceased brother David. He was the kindest person you could know and anyone who knew him would say the same thing. He kept his door unlocked at all times for people to come in and say hello, and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a fighter, up until the day he passed. He was a loyal worker and was even working up until 26 days before his death. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and COPD. He had one large mass in his left lung and two smaller ones in his right lung, along with cancer found in his stomach. He was originally brought to St. Lukes hospital in Newburgh, NY where he was diagnosed and they ended up releasing him after about a week with oxygen, the next morning I had to go over to his house because he couldn't breathe, and call paramedics to take him back to the hospital, he should have never been released in the first place. They decided to send him to Montefiore in the Bronx, NY farther from us to receive chemo and radiation at the same time because he wanted to fight. But all they did was one round of chemo, and no radiation. They removed a ton of liquid from his lungs. They failed to do what they said they were going to do. He could have been closer to home since he didn't receive any radiation. We visited him often, and I saw him Sunday 08/27/2023 and sadly he passed quickly and comfortably on a morphine drip, which the doctors did not tell us he was on, the next day alone. I think he would have wanted it that way though. He lived the way he wanted and went out fighting and passing the way he wanted. The money being raised is for the cost of bringing his body back from the Bronx, which has already happened, cremation, and a memorial service. It's more expensive when someone passes in NY city and you have to bring them back. Everything is being done through Gridley Horan in Walden, right across the street from where he lived. Unfortunately, my father had no life insurance, or 401k, or any savings so we are asking for donations to help pay for all of this. I've set the goal at $5,000. It cost about $4,000 just to get his body back from the city and cremated, as he wished, and there will be more expenses to have the memorial, costs of urns and memorial cards, obituary, etc. If you cannot afford to donate, please share this with others on social media. If we can get to the $5,000 goal it should cover all expenses, and if anyone would like to donate past the goal to help our family out, it will be appreciated but not necessary. We do not have a date for the memorial setup yet, I will be keeping people updated on facebook on my page https://www.facebook.com/dan.rotondo.1?mibextid=ZbWKwL It may be a private account so you will have to friend request me. Once we have the date set up, we will also add it to this fundraiser. Thank you for everyone's condolences and prayers, and to anyone that can donate or share this.
