Raise Funds For Joseph to Access Higher Education
Donation protected
During my time volunteering in St Francis' Hospital in Katete we met some wonderful friends who showed us kindness and love throughout our stay, one of which we would like to help support through this fund.
Joseph is a nineteen year old lad from Chipata, Zambia. He spent most of his childhood, guiding his blind mother around Chipata, begging and raiding bins for food and bottles to sell. Joseph had a difficult past and sadly lost both of his parents at a young age.
When Joseph turned fourteen, Zambia’s government made education free so his grandmother (Mbwya) encouraged him to attend school for the first time in his life. Joseph now attends Jersey School in Katete.
We met Joseph through previous volunteers and spent most weekends with him. In order to study, Joseph spends a lot of his free time doing peace work to earn money for his food and rent. He is very innovative with business ideas to make extra money where possible, for example, collecting glass bottles to sell to sunflower oil sellers.
Joseph is due to complete his final grade 12 exams in November 2024 and hopes to become an Electrical Engineer. He aspires to use his skills in a hospital environment having spent time with the tradesman linked to the hospital in Katete. We are hoping to sponsor his education and upkeep through this fundraiser to give him the best start at life and to help him achieve his dream.
Joseph and I spoke to different universities around Zambia. We both agreed Nortec School of Engineering in Ndola was the better option for him and one that will give him the most opportunities after graduation. The money we raise will cover his tuition fees, accommodation, food, travel, uniform and supplies like books and pens. The money will be paid directly to the school and we will be having regular reports on his progress each term.
Any contribution would impact his life more than you can imagine. We have become great friends with Jospeh and would be so grateful if you could donate to this fund to help him achieve his dream and make his Mbwya very proud.
