Josh needs a Kidney!

Josh and Emily have been married for almost 10 years. They have two beautiful children, Sofia (8) and Hunter (7). Josh works for Discount Tires and Emily is a paraprofessional at Bartlett Elementary and also works the afterschool program.

Josh has had kidney disease for about 3 years. They recently found out the cause of his kidney disease is genetic. Josh's mom got her new kidney this past April! In February 2022 Josh caught COVID and it sped up his kidney disease putting him into kidney failure. Josh is on home dialysis. He hooks up every single night for 9 hours and every morning he is up and going to work for 12 hours.

Josh and Emily found out their insurance wouldn't pay for the local hospital to do his transplant because they are not a COE, Center of Excellence in kidney transplants. They have to travel over 2 hours for all transplant appointments to San Antonio.

Josh is an excellent candidate for a transplant. Emily wanted to get tested but they said no because they have two small children and they don't want to put both parents under at the same time. They also found out Josh has passed this gene on to their daughter, Sofia.

Josh and Emily's kids need their dad! Dialysis is only helping short term, not fixing the problem.
