Josh Parker Warrior Fund

Family and Friends,
I am asking for your financial assistance to enable a friend of mine to receive some much needed mental health treatments. His name is Josh Parker. Josh and I met in Warner Robins, Georgia in 2007 as lieutenants in the Air Force. In early 2008, Josh volunteered for his first deployment, which involved imbedding with a unit belonging to the Army's famed 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan. During that deployment Josh witnessed the death of one of his Army comrades due to blunt force trauma to the forehead as a result of a vehicle accident. Josh was also involved in at least one fire fight against the Taliban, ultimately earning him the Combat Action Badge. Two years later, Josh felt called to join the Air Force Reserves and became a Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) helicopter pilot. (CSAR crews fly into hostile territory, sometimes under fire, to medically evacuate ground troops either wounded or killed in action.) He returned to Afghanistan twice with his new unit. After three combat tours in Afghanistan - witnessing the worst in war - Josh began to experience numerous nightmares associated with his deployments and has been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He has constantly sought treatment via the V.A., but the treatment is not achieving desired results. He now needs more focused intervention through neurotherapy and perhaps biofeedback treatments (both of which are expensive), are not yet offered by the V.A., and not yet covered by insurance agencies.
The Psychoneuroplasticity (PNP) Center in Dallas, TX offers the evaluation and treatment recommendation Josh requires. I personally visited the PNP center after other traditional medical avenues were not addressing my needs, and I am now benefiting from the evaluation, treatment plan, and support the team gave me. A 2-day evaluation and treatment recommendation costs $7,995. Airfare and lodging are an additional cost. After the 2-day visit, focused follow-on treatments and monitoring are recommended in the individual's local area. The PNP Center does not accept insurance so while I am not aware of Josh's family financial situation, I am fairly certain they would appreciate any donations towards this cost as the PNP Center trip and follow-on neurotherapy/biofeedback treatments will likely be out-of-pocket expenses.
A donation in any amount would of course be appreciated. Please forward to anyone in your circle of family and friends.
A note of urgency: the PNP Center is normally booked two months in advance when first contacted for scheduling, so I believe a reasonable target date to raise these funds is May 29th, Memorial Day. Let's honor a hero by giving the gift freedom from PTSD to someone who fought for freedom, and on a day we normally associate with ultimate sacrifice to our Nation.
Josh is a husband, a father of two young sons, a Friend, a Brother in arms, a Patriot...and he needs our help.
Thank you in advance for your support of Josh!
The fight is on.
Always his Friend in the Fight,
Rob
