In loving memory of Joshua Anthony Soto.
There are no words…..there are no answers……there are only questions and broken hearts today. Why do bad things happen to good people? How can it be true that our beloved friend, son, partner, brother be taken from us at the age of 18…..at the very beginning of his time to grow into the man he was meant to be? How could a young man with so much potential, such a bright future, willing to work so hard….. be gone? Our hearts ache, our minds distraught, and our bodies numb as we mourn the passing of Joshua Anthony Soto. On November 6th 2021, Josh was taken from us unexpectedly and tragically.
Josh attended Central High School #280 and graduated from Agora Cyber Charter School. But, his true passion was ice dancing, where he achieved so much in such a short time. Through his complete commitment to this sport, Josh was able to compete at a national level with his partner, Mila. The team competed as a final competitor in the 2019 Intermediate U.S. Figure Skating competition and recently were competitors in the 2022 Junior Ice Dance U.S. Figure Skating Championship Series. His love of the sport was undeniable. Josh defied the odds and rose to a high level as a national competitor because of his tenacity, courage, and relentless hard work! He was a rising star in the skating community, one of the brightest for the future of U.S. ice dancing!
Josh was a talented young man with a contagious smile. His positivity was infectious, always supportive of his friends, family, and fellow skaters. He was planning to begin college this January in West Chester. Josh is survived by his parents, Jesus Soto and Damaris Soto-Perez, of Philadelphia. But he leaves behind so many people who loved and respected him and will miss him dearly: siblings, friends, family, fellow skaters, and coaches! He will forever stay in our hearts and minds. We will forever see his smile when we close our eyes; we will forever hear his words of encouragement when we feel down, and we will forever keep the lessons he taught us about hard work and commitment when we feel defeated. No one can ever take that away!
