Joshua Mhoon attending Juilliard School of Music

Hi everyone. I'm Joshua Mhoon, 17 years old and a Senior at Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago. I will also graduate from Merit School of Music’s Conservatory this semester.
I was accepted into The Juilliard School for the Fall 2021 and given a generous scholarship, but it does not cover room and board, books, living and traveling expenses. The financial aid package includes loans and grants but I'm still short $34,000. $24,000 is needed by July 2021.
Most recently I received the Principal's Scholar award at my high school. I am a "Lang Lang Foundation Young Scholar" and have attended Merit's Tuition Free Conservatory in Chicago for years honing my craft. I study privately with Dr. James Giles at Northwestern University on a foundation Scholarship.
As a classical concert pianist I've placed First place in The DePaul National Concerto Competition, The Walgreens National Concerto Competition’s Senior and Junior divisions, first place in The Emilio del Rosario Comcetto Competition, The SAVLER Competition, and The CAMTA Sonata Festival. I've performed at Lincoln Center in New York, Chicago Symphony Center, Carnegie Hall, Ravinia and Navy Pier in Chicago and The New World Center in Miami. I've played for worldwide audiences and on national TV in Japan, England, France, Greece, Turkey, Austria, Spain and Italy and done several tours in Germany. I've appeared on ABC TV's "Windy City Live", CBS TV's "Someone You Should Know", WTTW's "Chicago Tonite" TV, NPR Radio and many other talk shows.
My mission is to compose and expose young people to Classical music in a way they will love and understand the genre as much as I do.
I will record many private performances this summer and make them available to show my appreciation to donors only. Thanks for reading and supporting my dream of attending Juilliard Music School.
