Hi! My name is Joshua Noel, I am a dancer/ choreographer currently residing in Brooklyn. I grew up in Miami and moved to New York to attend the Conservatory of Dance (CoD) at Purchase college, which I graduated from in 2020. Since then I’ve had the great pleasure of working professionally, teaching, but most importantly connecting both ideas and people.

A recurring theme in my life a for long time has been “work with what you got”. At 16yrs old I was finally given the chance to start training in dance. I accepted the grace and worked tirelessly to make the dream my reality. In 2016, I was admitted into my dream college program, CoD at Purchase College. There I developed a sense of who Joshua might be, his possible duty in all of this.

One thing life has proven as of late is that it’s all “just a matter of steps”. Steps you take everyday, steps towards chance, steps towards change. My goal is to connect those steps, connect those moments.

I’m putting together this GofundMe in hopes that it will help in creating a way for me to courageously take those steps. I love to work and am looking for a way to share that.

Currently, I’m working on 7 BALLETS, I am in need of a small group of 8 DANCERS (5 women, 3 men), experience on pointe required. With these funds I’d be able to provide consistent pay for this small group. 2-3hr rehearsal periods, which will ultimately lead up to a private showing of work and excerpts in New York.

Yes, I could wait years to be accepted/acknowledged by a gatekeeper, but I can also just choose myself today. I’m choosing to do that instead. Your help will be that encouragement.

I’ve also come to see that the goal in this life is not to create “art”, but to contribute, to listen. Art is the outcome of conversation, clear and honest conversation.
