Joshua's Battle Against Rare Leukemia
Donation protected
Here's his story...
Joshua has always been exceptionally healthy, however, the tide has shifted as of late. On the night of May 31st Joshua went to a freestanding ER due to difficulty breathing. After various tests, the ruling came back as a severely low red blood cell count. His readings were at 2.5 compared to the average which is 14. The medical staff did not understand how he was still standing at all.
Shortly after this all unfolded he was quickly admitted to the hospital where he would later be diagnosed with ALL or Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After being transferred to 3 hospitals, the prognosis was set for 9 months with intensive chemotherapy followed by 21 months of additional maintenance post-remission.
Several weeks into treatment the doctors discovered more detail about the diagnosis. Josh has a rare form of ALL due to a specific gene mutation called Philadelphia-Like Chromosomes.
These chromosomes play a role in cancer cell growth & reproduction which can inhibit the success of chemotherapy itself. Due to this update, the treatment plan may change and be even harder on Joshua.
Along with this new information Joshua was also advised to take time away from work for the next 8 months as a safety precaution making it extremely challenging for him to pay rent & afford other necessities. He had just signed his first lease in March to live independently.
