Josiah's Memorial Playground at Madge Griffith

Josiah Christopher “Carlos Correa” McIntyre was a first grader at Madge Griffith Elementary School in Clute, TX. He tragically lost his life on September 8, 2020. Madge Griffith Elementary would like to honor his memory with the purchase of a new playground for all students to use and enjoy for many years to come. Josiah loved playing baseball. The Houston Astros were his favorite baseball team and Carlos Correa was his favorite player. The new playground will be Astros blue and orange with a baseball statue and a commemorative plaque. Josiah’s contagious smile and kindness left a lasting impression to so many people and especially to his Madge Griffith family.
Having another playground at Madge Griffith Elementary provides students the opportunity to practice social and emotional skills with other children while giving them the freedom and independence to explore, be creative, and use their imagination. Unstructured, outdoor play has been shown to boost academic performance amongst students. Josiah loved playing outside with his friends, cousins, and sister Alayna. This will keep his fun loving spirit and memory alive for those who knew and loved him.
Fly High Jo, MGE loves you.
