Our sister Sharra wrote a brief caption to describe what's been going on:
******************************
~As most of you know my mom has been fighting a battle with liver and kidney disease since November 2018. On October 19th she was in a very very serious car accident that left her with a number of broken bones and other problems.
Saturday, January 4th, she returned to the hospital with major complications and was transported to a hospital in LA (Keck - USC) in the middle of the night last night/this morning (January 7/8) so she can be evaluated for a transplant ASAP. This experience has been incredibly hard on everyone and now with her in LA it makes it difficult for myself and my siblings to be there for/with her. I’d also like to thank everyone for their continued prayers, well wishes, positive thoughts, and offers of help. Also, we ask to please not call or text her, please message me instead and I’ll make sure she hears it.~
*******************************
As many of you know, AV medical center was already a long drive for a lot of the kids, but now the commute is 85 miles for my dad and sister, 83 for a couple of my brothers, 75 miles for my older sister, and so on. I checked today and gas prices in California average $3.10 a gallon. Consider this - visiting mom once takes 8.5 gallons, which most small cars is a half tank of gas! They're trying to carpool but with children, jobs and varying schedules, it's not always possible.
For me, being the only one so far away, I can only imagine what this is doing to their wallet and their families, as the new drive will only cost exponentially more, and as of now the doctor's do not know when or if mom will be released. I had been sending money to Sharra when I could, but we could use some help. Please consider donating to our family. Anything helps. I'm hoping we can raise enough money for a few round trips, and maybe a few meals, since my dad, brothers and sisters spend hours at my mom's side waiting for test results.
If you're not able to give money, please give us your prayers. Knowing we have you on our side is helping us all be strong for her.
