Journei's Road to Recovery!
Donation protected
Journei MaeJean Buelna was born on June 30, 2015 with a rare blood disorder. Journei suffers from a severe Protein C Deficiency that can develop a life-threatening blood clotting disorder called Purpura Fulminans, as a result, abnormal bleeding and clotting occurs in various parts of the body. Due to this blood disorder, Journei has experienced multiple blood clots early in utero and soon after birth that required immediate and expert attention.
After birth, Journei was transferred to Madera Children’s Hospital and has spent the first two weeks of her life in the NICU. Most recently, Journei underwent a successful brain surgery on July 20th to address some of the clotting and is currently in recovery, but still has a long road ahead of her. An additional surgery at UCLA is expected in the upcoming months, as well as, multiple appointments with a team of care specialists between Madera Children’s Hospital and UCLA to maintain her health.
While the Buelna family has had an outpour of mental and emotional support, realistically they will also need financial support to provide Journei with the best care available. These first few months of Journei's life will be vital in maintaining and establishing her health. Your small financial contribution can help the Buelna's to provide the care Journei needs!
All donations made will go directly to the Buelna family to help with hospital expenses, traveling to/from scheduled surgeries and upcoming appointments and providng the necessary medications and needs for Journei during this critical time.
Journei is a strong little fighter (much like her Mama!) and has already made large strides in her recovery. All the NICU nurses have fallen in love with her and she has a large group of supporters. Her current favorites are to be swaddled in a warmed up blanket, snuggling on her Mama and Dada’s chest and her little wooly Lamb booties.
If you have any questions about donations please contact Jocelyn Mabery.
We will continue to keep you updated on our little Journei's special journey! Your selfless contribution means a whole lot to this special little lady, Thank you.
