Journey To a Normal Life for Seth

Most of you know that my child has suffered for the past two years with Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW). If you don’t know what that is; to briefly explain, it is a terrible reaction to topical steroids prescribed by doctors for eczema. It leaves the victim in immense pain, skin that is literally burned off and weeping, and itching so deep it reaches the bones. It is absolutely horrific! We are so fortunate that after a year-and-a-half of suffering, our son was led to see Dr. Li of Integrative Health in New York. Her treatment consists of natural remedies to heal from the inside. She has completely changed our lives! Not only does our son’s skin look beautiful, but he’s living a “normal” boy’s life now. At almost 2-years-old, he was finally able to play on a playground without fear of infection. His smile was absolutely priceless.
But now, another momma really needs your help. My beautiful friend, Deborah, and her sweet boy, Seth, are in the absolute thick of TSW. He is suffering tremendously. Seth is 4-years-old and has been dealing with eczema since he was only 4-months-old. Doctors continued to prescribe high-potency steroids one after another. Every time Deborah and her husband, Patrick, stopped applying them, he only got worse and would develop eczema on parts of his body that never had it before. He continued to get worse and worse. His skin began to look burned and the intensity of the itch began to grow exponentially. Seth is no longer able to sleep at night. Deborah describes his movement throughout the night as if bugs are crawling all over him. Seth even cries out, “Something is getting me!”
This has been going on since the summer of 2019. He has consulted over 10 doctors, all of which continue to have the same answer: steroids. Dermatologists have even put Seth on a harsh oral immunosuppressant while continuing to push for steroids. Deborah and her husband have tried everything to help Seth, including traveling to Hawaii to see if climate change would provide some relief.
It’s been almost a year and he still has total body wounds that continue to ooze. He still continues to shed piles of skin, leaving his bed sheets covered in blood. Everything hurts to the touch, including water and wind. Some days his legs hurt so badly, he refuses to walk. Most days, he refuses to go outside and play.
Seth and his parents haven’t slept through the night in a year. They dream of the day he can get out of his footed pajamas and wear normal clothes. They dream of the day he has no more pain. They dream of being able to step into another room, without worry of coming back to Seth covered in more blood. They dream of the day they’ll be able to kiss his smooth cheeks again. They dream of the day he will want to play outside with his siblings like normal boys do. They dream of everything I wanted for my own son and finally have now thanks to Dr. Li and her treatments.
Dr. Li is their last hope but they need your help. Deborah and Patrick have not been able to consistently work in the last year with everything that Seth has been going through, on top of having 3 other children. Anything that you can help with financially for Seth’s consults and treatment would be an incredible blessing!
