Our Journey:
As many of you know David and I started trying to have a baby when we got married. Which means we have been trying for over 4 years! We have been on our infertility journey pretty much from the beginning. I had JRA (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis) as a child, one of the medications I was on as a child can cause ovulation issues, which meant we were referred to specialist pretty quickly into our journey. However we got lucky and I didn't have any issues with ovulation, but we still weren't getting pregnant! We then found out I have endometriosis, which can cause infertility, however there are tons of unknowns related to endometriosis. So when we knew we possibly had an issue on my side of things we were officially referred to Infertility specialist! Once with the infertility specialist we found out we also had male infertility factors as well. Now we know its both of us, so what's next? We went through 3 IUIs with 0 pregnancies. At this point in our story we have spent roughly $5,000 (probably more) (insurance covers NONE of our expenses at the Infertility Specialist).
We decided to take a break after 3 failed IUIs and a maxed out credit card! During that time we bought our house we are in and I switched OBGYN doctors so we had better help here at home under insurance. We saw my current doctor back in June and he recommended we continue treatments with the Infertility Specialist. We saw Dr. Smith (our infertility specialist) back at the end of June to decide what would be our next step! We have a few different options that range from $6,000 (IUIs) to $23,000+ (IVF). At this time David and I have decided to try again with the IUIs (they are a little different this time) and see where that takes us! The doctor would like us to do 4 rounds which equals the $6,000.
We really went back and forth on if we wanted to ask for help from our friends and family. We finally decided that if we want to make our dream of becoming parents come true, we really need your help! Our goal is to have the money to start our next step in this journey toward Baby Beasley by July 2019 (next summer!). We are nervous and excited and pray that this time things will work out! We greatly appreciate all the love and support that you all give us through this journey!
XOXO,
Brandi and David
