This is Sara Qiu and I’m cycling alone from Spain toward Asia. I spent the last three months cycling in Türkiye and everything I received was beyond hospitality. After the earthquake, many families I stayed with lost their relatives and their houses.

Now I’m raising funds for all of them. All of it will be donated to trusted NGOs in Türkiye and Syria. Are you joining me?

In April 2022 I left home to start a journey on a bicycle from Spain toward Asia (@journeyfromtheroad).

On the 13th of October, I crossed my 10th border: Türkiye. I stayed cycling from West to East for three months, from Ipsala to Gaziantep.

In all this time, I met countless Turkish families on the way.

They not only shared their food, their culture, and their home.

But also even if I was a total stranger, they treated me like a sister, a grandchild, a daughter. They made me feel at home.

One month after I left, two earthquakes took the lives of more than 45.000 people and displaced more than 23 million.

My last stop was Gaziantep, 30 km from the epicenter. The numbers keep growing. And this is not in the headlines anymore.

Many families that hosted me have lost their relatives, their friends. Others are left displaced.

For most of us, this will only be “news”. But for them, it will turn their lives upside down.

I’m setting up this fundraiser to help all the victims that have to face now a new reality.

100% of the funds will go to trusted and independent NGOs in Türkiye and Syria. It will be shared in detail.

Mi nombre es Sara Qiu, y estoy pedaleando en solitario desde España hacia Asia. Pasé mis 3 últimos meses en Turquía donde todo lo que recibí fue más allá de hospitalidad. Tras el terremoto muchas familias con las que me quedé perdieron a sus familiares, su hogar. Ahora estoy recaudando fondos para todos los afectados. El 13 de octubre crucé mi 10ª frontera: Turquía. Aquí estuve pedaleando tres meses, de oeste a este, desde Ipsala hasta Gaziantep.

En todo este tiempo, conocí a muchas familias turcas en el camino.

Que no solo compartieron conmigo su comida, su cultura, su hogar.

Sino que siendo una completa extraña, me trataron como a una hermana, como a una nieta, como a una hija. Me hicieron sentir como en casa.

Un mes después de salir de Turquía, dos terremotos quitaron la vida a más de 45.000 personas y desplazaron a más de 23 millones.

Las cifras siguen en aumento. La noticia ya no está en los titulares.

Algunos nos olvidaremos pronto, pero ellos, no.

Algunos de mis amigos y familias han perdido sus hogares. Algunos han perdido a sus seres queridos.

Estoy lanzando esta campaña para recaudar 50.000 € y ayudar a las víctimas del terremoto, que ahora tienen que enfrentarse con esta nueva realidad.

El 100% de los fondos recaudados irán destinados a ONGs independientes y respetadas de Turquía y Siria. Compartiré la información en detalle.
