I have set up a donation page in honor of Joyce Decker. With her family's permission, I am collecting donations for a bench dedicated in her honor in the Town of Vienna.
She was a second Mom to many including myself, a pillar in the Vienna community, and the most genuine woman you could ever meet. We met when I was just 14 after starting my first job working at her privately owned daycare on Courthouse Road in Vienna by the name of Vienna's Tiny Tots Village.
There, I had the privilege of working alongside her and her family. Working directly with her own children who helped her run the center, and becoming friends with her grandchildren. Later serving as a wedding coordinator for two of her grandchildren. I hold the memories of my 10 years working alongside her close to my heart.
She taught me and so many countless others to care for each other, the act of giving, and to put your heart into everything you do. To me she was JOY. Her laughter, wit, charm, sincerity, and her humor were infectious. There was NEVER a time she didn't have a smile on her face, and a positive disposition.
With the help of donations from those who knew her and a community that supported her efforts for over 50 years, I hope to raise enough funds to donate the bench in her name.
