Joyce, a Chilean work and holiday maker in Melbourne, recently faced a medical emergency. She underwent surgery due to a ruptured ovarian cyst, leading to severe internal bleeding and unexpected medical expenses.

Now resting at home, Joyce is without income during her recovery, and her limited savings fall short of the substantial hospital bill totaling over $11,000. Despite having insurance, only $3,000 is covered.
