Carl's Emergency Medical Fund

Here are the two "main men" in my life: my husband Carl and our only grandchild. Carl and I are raising our grandson and we are really enjoying the opportunity to give this special-needs child the attention and care he deserves. He’s really enjoying it too – and he really needs his grandpa in his life.
That’s where you come in. Carl has an extremely painful stage 3 tumor. The medical treatment Carl needs is going to cost us over $50,000, which we don’t have. So, after much prayer and supplication (Carl is very private and hesitant to ask others for help), we must turn to you – our friends, family, brothers and sisters – for help.
Out of respect for Carl’s privacy, I’m not going to describe all of the details of his suffering, just the general sense of what’s going on. Carl has a stage 3 tumor in his tongue, which is caused by cancer. It’s like the pain of 100 ulcers magnified by 10,000! But, unlike an ulcer, it won’t go away on its own. The pain never lets up. It’s very difficult for Carl to talk, and almost impossible for him to eat anything. He’s lost 45 pounds in the last 8 weeks.
One set of doctors proposed treatment that would leave Carl without a tongue, without teeth, without taste buds, without saliva glands, unable to speak, and unable to eat. But worse, there’s no guarantee it’ll stop the cancer. He previously had part of his tongue removed, and it didn’t stop the cancer.
Another set of doctors, promises better results, and guarantees that Carl will not lose his tongue and that he will be able to carry on a normal life afterwards.
If you’re wondering, Carl has not used alcohol or tobacco in over 35 years – this isn’t something he’s done to himself. He’s a lifetime scouter, avid scuba diver, certified repelling instructor, and he loves the outdoors and working with youth. He has lots of energy and a zest for life that’s contagious. He’s not done living. His grandson needs him. I need him. And I hope you’ll help us keep him!
We desperately need your help. Without it, Carl will continue this incessant suffering and I'm not sure how it will all end, I can't think about that. We absolutely need the professional help of the cancer treatment center. Other than this situation, he is very healthy.
Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated. It all adds up. I thank you, through my tears and from the bottom of my heart. I know we can’t do it without your help. We’ve exhausted all other avenues. Thank you so much!
