UPDATE:
Debbie has been discharged from the hospital, and doing better , however this family still faces many financial challenges. Please keep praying for them and help out if you are able. Thank you!
Hi , my name is Betsy. I am setting up this fundraiser to help out our dear sweet friend and family, Debbie Dunlap.
Thank you all for your prayers and support of Debbie. She has been a wonderful, caring, supportive and loyal friend to many, but now she needs us!
Amanda, Debbie's daughter and primary caretaker, and Debbie, have both lost their jobs due to the urgency of Debbie's healthcare needs and they desperately need our help.
There are many other details Debbie and Amanda prefer we not share, but please know they need our help.
Debbie has NEVER wanted or asked for help -- nor has her daughter. They originally did not want to ask for help via go fund me, however Amanda now has agreed to allow us to offer the assistance due to the dire need for her family.
If you are able to help, please know that any little bit will be greatly needed for immediate necessities such as housing, food, medical expenses, and other urgent needs. The funds will go directly to Amanda so she
can care for Debbie and her children.
Below is a recap of Debbie's current status from her daughter, Amanda, who is her primary caretaker.
A lot of people have been asking about my mom, Debbie Davis Dunlap.
Last Friday on the 3rd, I rushed her to Blount Memorial hospital. She was very confused and complaining of a severe headache. When we arrived at the ER they rushed her in as a stroke patient. Her blood pressure was 245/118. They immediately did a CT scan, but it showed no signs of a stroke. They
admitted her to the ICU for the high blood pressure and put her on a drip to lower it.
On Saturday they moved her to a regular room. Her blood pressure was still a little high, but not as bad as it had been. She was still very confused and just not herself. On Sunday evening against my wishes, she was discharged from Blount Memorial. They said that she was fine to leave, but that was not the
case.
I was up with her all night Sunday night. She was confused, hallucinating and fell a few times. She would not go to sleep and she kept trying to sneak out and leave. I called and got her in to see her primary care provider Monday morning. They told me to take her straight to Park West.
When we got there, they took her to a room and began her care. She was diagnosed Tuesday with dementia with delirium. She had also fractured her left hand from one of her falls. They started her on some medications that really seems to be helping with the hallucinations that she was having.
Today she left Park West and is going to Tennova of Lafollette for a 5-7 day stay. There they are going to get her dementia medication regulated and find out how fast it is progressing.
She's been having some memory issues for the past year or so, but nothing like this. This really hit hard and fast.
I want to thank everyone who has reached out and checked on her this past week. She definitely has a lot of people that love her and support her. I'll update more as I know more.
Debbie is currently in Tenonova being evaluated and where she goes from her is still to be determined.
Thank you all again for your gracious prayers and financial support especially as we go into the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays!
