UPDATE 09/14/2023 - Our mom went to be the the Lord today at 3:51pm. I'm giving you all an update to the previous post. There was no life insurance or any burial funds in place and we just got done laying my nephew to rest a month ago. We hate to ask but any and everything you can help with would be more than appreciated as our family tries to navigate these tragic last few months. We love and appreciate you all so much. Prayers are greatly appreciated.

Denise Santiago is a loving mother to three children Amber, Cody, and Desi. She has thirteen beautiful grandchildren. She married her soulmate Sim Santiago over 35 years ago. She was recently diagnosed with stage four cancer. It spread quickly from her lungs to her bones, spine, and spleen. The doctors estimate with treatment she has only 18 months to live. Due to her diagnosis and treatment plan, Denise is unable to work. Sim works full-time while their children take Denise to her numerous doctor’s appointments.

Denise recently started radiation treatment. However, after her first treatment she had to be readmitted to the hospital. She was able to resume treatments this week, but it is causing her such a significant degree of pain that her quality of life is decreasing rapidly. It is important to us to ensure her remaining days are as comfortable as possible and spent with her family. Although Denise has health insurance, she is struggling to cover co-pays and living expenses while she is unable to work and undergoing treatment. Additionally, we are asking for funds to allow Sim to cut down on his hours—even if it is minimal— to allow him to care for Denise during the day and devote as much of his time to her as possible.

Denise and Sim have always been loving parents, grandparents, and friends to everyone in the community. They have selflessly supported family, friends, and members of the community with their time and money. They have always been willing to assist family and friends when dealing with personal hardships. Although I am not their biological daughter, from the moment they met me they took me in and raised me as their own knowing I did not have any support from my parents. Their love and kindness towards me and my children have profoundly impacted my family’s life.

If you are unable to donate financially, we please ask that you keep Denise and her family in your prayers. We will also be starting a food train to support them during this time and take another burden off their plate.
