JR and Tahoe Emergency Housing Fund

Friends, Neighbors, fellow Portland Musicians,

Two dear friends of mine and yours are in a distressing situation. The iconic JR Pella and Ms. Tahoe Jackson are homeless and need to find housing AND FAST.

In January JR and Tahoe were informed that they were being evicted from their home. To make matters worse, Tahoe found herself with a medical emergency that put her in the hospital for more than two weeks. JR was able to find temporary housing while Tahoe recovered. But Tahoe was unexpectedly released from the hospital, and now both she and JR find themselves without a home.

This GoFundMe is about providing emergency financial assistance for JR and Tahoe so they can quickly find housing and have a stable and safe foundation to live in.

Most everyone from the Portland music scene knows who JR and Tahoe are. But if you don’t, let me tell you. I wouldn’t be playing music today or had any of the musical adventures of my youth if I hadn’t met JR 35 years ago. Today, whenever I try and write a song, I think of JR, and how brutally honest, fierce, and vulnerable he is when writing and performing. He has been a living artistic inspiration to me and many others. When JR and Tahoe began performing together, it was the joining of two vocal forces that would rock the Portland music scene for many years. I’ve had the honor and privilege to be able to share the stage with both of them.

I have never done a GoFundMe before and am not much of a social media person. So those who know me will understand the situation must be critical for me to post this. The average two-bedroom apartment in Portland is $1600 a month. First and last months' rent and security deposits are typically required. Any place JR and Tahoe find will have to have wheelchair access for Tahoe. The costs stack up quickly.
