Help Jeff Rucker Beat Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected
At the beginning of this year in 2017, our father Jeff Rucker was diagnosed with Stage IV Melanoma cancer in his lungs and liver. Jeff is loved by his 5 handsome sons, in order of most handsomness; Richard (28), Kenny (24), Jeffrey (17), Gary (14), Jordan (12). Our father has always had the goal of living to see all his boys graduate High School and in order to reach that goal he needs to make it to age 68, he is currently 61. According to the studies, the odds are not necessarily in his favor to reach that goal. However heroes aren’t always made when the odds are in their favor and are usually made with the odds stacked against them. Unfortunately that is the case with me and my brothers’ hero, our dad Jeff Rucker. The Rucker boys are here to tell you that our dad has that “hero” within him and the fighting attitude to match. He has every intent of whipping this disease and getting on with his life to enjoy healthfully with his family, sons and the many friends he’s made along his journey. The amount of love and support this community has shown our father has been amazing, it’s even brought some emotions out of him that none of the Rucker boys have witnessed during any of our existences. I don’t think he fully understood how much this community cares about his ornery old butt and I believe that is a lot of the fire under that old butt to kick this thing to the curb! So first off a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone that has shown love and support to him and our family, it has truly been heartwarming to witness with all the negative things going on in this world. The love and support have been critical factors in helping us keep our heads up and always pushing forward. We believe love and support like that is what evens out the odds that were once stacked against him and shows that he’s not alone in this fight.

Unfortunately no one is ever fully prepared for a cancer diagnosis and we probably couldn’t have been any less prepared than we were the day we found out. Jeff was early into rehab therapy for a knee replacement surgery when the diagnosis and prognosis was presented. He was scheduled immediately for the dreaded treatments of chemotherapy at Knox Community Hospital. He decided to hold off on treatments until he could get into the highly respected Ohio State University James Cancer Center to begin. Time for deciding on the best treatment plan along with scheduling conflicts left us with a few months between the diagnosis and the first treatment (started on 3/20/17). We decided not to waste this time before the first treatment and started the battle with a sneaky surprise attack using some of God’s natural remedies. The natural supplements have been showing great results which are reflected by the many blood tests and doctors opinions. Surprisingly it also has sorted out some of the other issues he’s struggled with over the recent years. His health status from his lifestyle changes going into treatment have allowed him to start out with an immunotherapy rather than the typical chemotherapy for advanced stages of cancer. He plans on continuing the natural supplements through therapy to help keep his immune system strong for the battle. Unfortunately majority of natural supplements are not covered by insurance companies and are becoming costly to keep up with. Luckily all of the immunotherapy treatments are already covered. However our father only prepared financially to get through his knee replacement surgery and has expressed concern over finances. It is no secret our father Jeff is a very stubborn and prideful man. He is too prideful to ask for help financially to get through these trying and difficult times.

The monetary goal amount we are seeking will aim to cover many of the financial concerns our father has facing him such as:
- Typical responsible grown-up adult bill stuff (mortgage, car insurance, phone, cable etc.)
- Home Insurance (insurance company plans to drop his coverage very soon unless siding on his house is finished)
- The money to finish the siding on the house
- Natural Health supplements and food supplies
- Needs for for sons (sports and other extra-curricular activities, school functions, future college expenses and all the other fun stuff that comes along with growing boys)
-Worst case scenario, funeral expenses

We already appreciate if you’ve read this far into Richard’s long ramble, and are asking for anything that you feel you could donate to help reach our goal. Kenny Rucker will be graduating from Mount Vernon Nazarene University this May with a major in Accounting and a background in Business Administration and has been trusted by Jeff and our family to be the main overseer of the account to make sure everything is transparent and is going to the proper needs. We welcome any and all donations of any kind, even if that’s just sending positive vibes and prayers his way or personally to him, those are a different type of donations we call “donations to the soul” and those are just as powerful as monetary donations! Anyone who knows our dad well knows one of his signature calls to establish his presence has been “hoody hooo”. So to put the cancer on notice that #TeamRuck is here to cause some ruckus for anything in the way of #JRtheSTAR68 reaching his goal of 68 and beyond!! #HoodyHooo
