Florence Devastation: Jacobs Family

Story

Gary and Lacy Jacobs (my sister) have lost at least the first floor of their home due to Hurricane Florence. When the hurricane came through, we thought they had gotten lucky with just a few downed trees. Then the river and creek started rising due to the flooding rains. They just bought their home in June of this year and have been working on decorating and making their home their own. They were assured by their realtor and all others that they didn't need flood insurance because they weren't in a flood zone on the new maps just released this year. Obviously, that is not the case and we don't know if their insurance will cover any of the damages. It is hard for them to ask for help, so I have set up this GoFundMe in order to help them repair their house and replace lost necessities. Gary is a retired Marine and had just started school at UNCW to work on a business degree. He has already decided to drop his classes this semester in order to focus on cleaning out their home and repairing it. Lacy works for the NHRMC Physician Group.
