Thrown onto subway track – Jeremy's recovery fund

Donation protected
Every New Yorker's worst nightmare happened yesterday when a stranger attacked Jeremy Sorese on the subway platform and threw him down onto the tracks. For those who have asked how to help, please consider making a donation of any amount.

On August 1st at around 10am, Jeremy was waiting for a train at the Broadway-Lafayette station when he was punched in the face and thrown down onto the subway tracks. More specific details can be found at the news links below.

Jeremy is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment and awaiting surgeries for his arm and hip. Thankfully he is stable, but experiencing a tremendous amount of pain. He has a long recovery process ahead, but considering the extreme circumstances we are all very grateful. Legal proceedings are also underway as the attacker is in custody.

Though he does have some insurance coverage to help with the immediate medical bills relating to his hospitalization and surgeries, Jeremy will be unable to live normally or work for some time. A cartoonist and writer, he was about to begin a new teaching job, and was finishing his second book. Everything work related is now on hold for the foreseeable future due to the nature of the injuries.

This campaign is set to an arbitrary goal at this time because it is not entirely clear what the ongoing cost of treatment, recovery, and loss of work will be. Your donations will help Jeremy focus on recovery and healing.

Fundraising information:

For clarity (as advised by GoFundMe) I am a close friend and am managing this campaign while Jeremy's partner and family take care of his more immediate needs. Jeremy will have sole access to withdraw the funds directly from GoFundMe in the near future. Thank you very much!
