Retinal Detachment

Hi, my name is Nereida Rodriguez. Everyone knows me as Nedy. I am extremely embarrassed by creating this gofundme but a couple of my friends up North recommended that I do. The reason for me asking for help is because in January or February of 2019, my cornea in my right eye was sliced with a ring and I had a bad infection that went into my left as well. I didn't think anything of it because infection went away after taking antibiotics and putting a gel in my eyes. In December 2022, my granddaughter poked me accidentally in my left eye and her finger got stuck under my eyelid. The infection was so bad and painful for about 2 weeks. In February this year I went to get my eyes examined for new glasses and the optometrist was so concerned of how many floaters I have. She's never seen that many so she referred me to St Luke's in which at the time I had insurance but they didn't have anything available until now. Since February, my cornea in both eyes have Grey ring and half of my left eye is as if I have on sunglasses. I see tint. I have free insurance that the government supplies but they don't accept this insurance. I have been getting severe migraines at least twice a week and been wearing a patch over left eye. St Luke's explained that my retinal is detaching but that I needed a full evaluation which cost $250 and most likely emergency surgery that would have to be paid upfront as well. I have gotten declined medicaid and lost my job on Monday because of this. Reason I am in a financial bind is because I was scammed where I live and paid out a lot of money in two weeks just to keep my house and have been playing catch up. I'm asking for $5,000 goal which only covers one eye if I'm lucky. I really appreciate any help I can get. Thanking all of you in advance. Nedy
