Sunday has always been their day together. Sunday Funday. This Easter Sunday, they decided to take the 66 Impala out. Mom was so excited to be out with Dad in the nice weather once some chores around the house were done. Just a few short hours later, Sarah received a call that no child wants to hear “Your parents have been in a car accident. They were air flown to different hospitals.”

On Easter Sunday at about 3 p.m. our parents, Thomas and Angela Janecek were involved in a head-on collision outside of Missouri Valley, Iowa when the driver of another vehicle crossed the centerline. Thomas Janecek was flown to University of Nebraska Medical Center and Angela Janecek was flown to Bergan Mercy Hospital. Both our parents have sustained multiple injuries.

If you know Tom, you know his dedication to his family, including his law enforcement family. He has been a member of the Saunders County Nebraska Sheriff's Office since 3-7-03 when he was hired part-time, and quickly became full-time on 7-7-03. He has also been a Dare Officer in the local Saunders County schools and always enjoyed working with the kids. If you know him, you also know his sense of humor, his penchant for classic cars, and his knowledge of a little bit of everything.

If you know Mom, you know her strength and resiliency, and her positive energy despite all she has endured. She has been in the nursing field since 2004 always providing compassionate care and words of hope to her patients. Passionate about the field of mental health, she recently transitioned to a role in which she could apply her nursing skills in a new setting and with a population she has always been such an advocate. For those in the Omaha metro area, you may even know her and not realize it, she is the owner of the Suicide Awareness Jeep. The red jeep with the suicide prevention ribbon, as well as the suicide prevention crisis line.

This is Tom and Ang. Devoted and loving husband and wife of over 30 years, dedicated law officer, nurse and mental health advocate and our parents. Our Dad has always been the rock, the stability within our family whenever tragedy struck. Now is our turn to give back. We are asking for any help as we endure the long road to recovery and all the associated medical costs

If you are unable to donate monetarily, we please ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers and let them know they are not alone. #JusticeforJaneceks
