Max was the best dog ever. He was my soulmate and companion for over 14 years! By my side through basically all of my adult life… the good, the bad, happy, sad, health, sickness… he was my consistent partner. The day I adopted him, I got him in the car and looked into his confused eyes and told him “Don’t be scared. I promise you I’ll fight for you and be with you until the very very end, no matter what.” I kept that promise through so much. Moving 8 times. Fighting cancer for 2 1/2 years. 2 surgeries. Chemotherapy. Intervertebral Disc Disease. Countless sleepless nights comforting his pain. Carrying him and pushing him in a wagon when he had issues walking. Emergency visits. And vet bills upon vet bills. Never wavering from that promise to the end. I held his paw and kissed his nose as he took his final breath. And I was there at his cremation… truly sticking to being there “until the very very end.” And losing Max has left an immense hole in my heart and soul. I’ve felt lost. Broken. All the while trying to make sense of it all and trying to think of how I can turn this loss into something positive.
So I decided… I want to raise money in Max’s honor and name. As a rescue himself, I know he’d want me to go out and raise as much money as humanly possible to help other dogs in need. Because if we do this, I do believe his life and spirit will be immortal. My goal is to raise $5,188 which represents one dollar for every day I spent with Max. Of course if we can go higher, great. And 100% of that money will go to Eleventh Hour Rescue, an amazing animal rescue I truly believe in and believe has potential to save so many dogs. Let’s make a difference!!!
Eleventh Hour Rescue is a primarily VOLUNTEER based, no kill rescue that saves animals on Death Row from high kill shelters. Eleventh Hour Rescue dogs and cats are cared for by a compassionate and dedicated team of volunteers and staff. Whether in foster homes, their kennel or adoption centers, each dog and cat receive a clean and safe living environment, fresh food and water, medical attention, and most important an abundance of love and care until they find their forever home.
