42km of pain in aid of Parkinson's UK
I've got a personal incentive to support Parkinson's UK - my dad is a Parky, as someone with Parkinson's is affectionately known.
In fact, my dad is one of the UK's most preeminent Parkies, presenting the Movers and Shakers podcast with several other talented colleagues (please check it out and refer the show to friends and relatives that have Parkinson's in their lives.)
But, even if you don't care about my dad (which is mean by the way), you should care about making sure Parkies get better care and that ultimately we cure or mitigate the terrible symptoms of this strange condition.
Around 1 in 50 people above the age of 65 currently have Parkinson's, and it's the world's fastest growing neurological disease, so there's a significant chance that you, or someone you love will develop Parkinson's at some point.
I'm running a running a marathon in September in oder to help raise money for my dad and his fellow parkies. Please support me, otherwise it will be very embarassing. I've never run anything close to 42km before, so it will be embarassing anyway - but please let my suffering be for a worthwhile cause!
