Juan Diaz Recovery Fund: Head-On Collision Victim

Donation protected

The Accident...

On May 1st, 2020, Juan Diaz was a victim of a head-on collision in the northwest area of Houston at the intersection of Eldridge Parkway & Clay Road @ around 7:10pm.  Juan was driving northbound on Eldridge in his 1966 Chevrolet Impala, just 4 miles away from arriving back home to his wife, when suddenly a driver traveling the opposite direction veered into his lane, hitting him head on.  From the scene, Juan Diaz had to be flown via LifeFlight to Memorial Herman in critical condition. Juan was immediately submitted for emergency surgery in the shock trauma ICU as he suffered from severe internal bleeding, fractured pelvis, fractured jaw/facial bones, broken left arm, broken both right and left legs, feet, and ankles.

Juan Diaz...

Juan Diaz is a loving father, grandfather, husband, and brother. A first-generation immigrant who came to this great country and became a citizen in order to fulfill the American dream and provide a future for his family.  As many can attest, Juan's natural instinct is to always be generous and help others in need without question or expecting anything in return.  Unfortunately, life takes unpredictable turns sometimes. Evidently, not only was the accident devastating to him, but also to his family who has to witness a loving man so full of life endure a season of broken spirit.

Sadly, when it rains it pours. Today we got the unfortunate news after his angiogram that they will have to amputate his left leg from the knee down. The trauma from the accident combined with Juan's pre-existing diabetic condition has rendered little to no circulation from his anterior tibial artery down to his left foot. At this point we can only hope and pray that his right leg/foot won't suffer the same fate.

The road to Juan's recovery will be long and difficult, both physically and mentally.  Since May 1st, he has gone through many extensive operations, will have many more to come, and will need physical therapy and medical attention for the remainder of his life. I am setting up this GoFundMe to help cover the cost of some of the medical expenses that the insurance will not cover. I understand that not everyone is in a financial position to offer help, especially during these trying times of Covid-19. Just know that we will humbly accept any donation with the greatest appreciation. Anything will make a difference. Regardless, even if you are not in a position to donate, we are still grateful you even took the time to read this and ask you to pray and send positive energies his way.

Please help by sharing his story, we will gladly answer any questions and will be posting updates accordingly. Have a blessed day and stay safe.
