Juan Santiago Vargas Funeral Services

On September 7, 2024, we lost our father, Juan Vargas. He spent the past two months dealing with repeated trips to the hospital with pneumonia and sepsis. His last visit occurred the week before Labor Day. He was there for over a week on antibiotics and dealing with an infection. Pulmonary fibrosis had weakened his lungs over the years and he was not springing back like he had in the past. He was finally released from the hospital, on Monday September 2, 2024 ,and was placed in hospice. On Saturday morning, we found out that his digestive system was going into failure and the feeding tube was doing more damage than good. At that time it was determined to stop the feeding tube and try to keep him as comfortable as possible. The siblings that lived in town, went to spend time with him and tell him how much he was loved, and those of us who live out of town were able to do the same via phone. Dad waited until his last child came in to share love and comfort, then he took his last breath. To say we were prepared for this would be a big lie. He was the patriarch of our family. For so many years, he worked hard as a truck driver to provide for our needs. He was the primary bread winner and took that job seriously. He ruled our home with an iron fist ensuring we had what we needed and we did what was right. He had seven uniquely different children and he was different with each of us. He loved us wholeheartedly and wanted us to have the best. When we were little, he gave us the outdoors – vacations to Canada in a cabin, fishing in the part, land out in the country where we were able to experience chickens, geese, goats, a horse, among other things. He wanted to give us the peace and tranquility of the country. If you knew my dad, you know that he would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He was always giving a helping hand in any way he could….this included bringing strangers home to help with the moving load he had, giving big tips to waiters or waitresses, giving someone on the street the last dollars he had, helping family whether it was with money or a place to stay. He was always there. During this challenging time, we are trying to raise funds to finalize the cost of his funeral. He did have insurance, but it is not enough to cover all of the expenses. The past few years with his and mom’s illnesses and her funeral have taken a toll on the finances. If you would like to help with funeral costs, please donate to this go fund me request. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your help and consideration. Sincerely, The Vargas Family Carlos, Maria Isabelle, Raul, Norma Emma, Ibet, Juan Carlos, and Mariana
