Judy, A Real Hot Skate Mom.

Judy, our amazing friend needs our support.

Last Sunday while skiing, her true rebellious nature was shining and her body went one way and her leg went another. As she only does things 100% she epic-ly broke both bones in her lower right leg. She has undergone surgery, has had some new hardware installed and is now beginning the journey of healing. She is still in the hospital but hoping to be home soon.

Judy's superpowers include taking care of her community in so many ways, personally and professionally. Whether it's helping deliver babies, volunteering with the VSBC, or hosting a Real Hot Skate Mom session at the skatepark, she cultivates community and spreads her awesome everywhere she goes. She's always the first to lend an ear or lend a hand to anyone who needs it.

As much as adding Bionic to her credits is pretty cool this accident has Judy in a bit of a spot. It has left her unable to work and care for herself and her family. After a recent conversation with her Occupational Therapist, the reality of the next stages in recovery from this injury have set in. Judy will need help when she returns home from the hospital. Chris, her partner, will have to take unpaid time off work to care for her, as she will be unable to bare weight on her leg for the next 3 months at least. The surgeon said most of the healing happens within the first 4 months but can be up to 2 years for full recovery. This could be a slow process. Fingers crossed her wonderfulness will speed up the healing.

The money generated from this fundraiser will go directly to covering household living costs for the family during this time and any medical help needed for her care for the next several months (at least).

As Judy is always on the giving end of things, it is very hard to turn the tables and ask for help herself. So I am asking on behalf of the family. Know that any amount donated will be greatly appreciated and used wisely. Times are hard and we know not everyone is in a position to share financially. If you are able to spread the word and send good vibes to Judy and fam that would be fantastic.
