Most believe that their grandmother is the most special lady to have walked the Earth. I’m no different. To myself and my family, she is everything. The most loving, forgiving, sweetest, and STRONGEST person I’ve ever met. She sings like an angel, curses like a trucker, and smiles like heaven. She stands up for herself yet places everyone above her. She’s our little 5 foot, 130lb force to be reckoned with.
She isn’t just the mother of two, grandmother of 13, great grandmother of 22, and great great grandmother of one. Judy Annis belongs to an entire community. We affectionately call her “neighborhood granny” and we share her with every child, adult, and animal she has healed. All my life, my grandmother has opened her home to anyone in need of a safe haven. Anyone that has needed a meal, shower, clean clothing, roof over their head, or simply some love and support. She gives her last with the deepest humility. She showers every human being she encounters with pure love and acceptance.
God gave us an angel and now a demon has taken her her away. She was victimized by a “man” that she opened her home to. My grandmother is still with us, physically, but we are being told by the doctors that it’s time. Due to the circumstances, there has been no time for us to prepare. She is without life insurance or liquid assets so we are piecing together the funding it will take to give her the burial and celebration of life that she deserves. On behalf of myself and my family, I (very) humbly ask for any support you may be able to provide, whether financially or spiritually. We are just as in need of prayers for peace.
UPDATED: Thank you, everyone, for the love and support you’ve shown our family. We are thankful for, and feel your prayers working in our hearts. My grandmother would be in awe of the love you’ve shown for her! Thanks to all of you, we were able to pull together a proper burial and celebration of life.
A graveside service is scheduled for October 20, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Calvary Cemetery in Niles, MI. Father Christian Johnston officiating. A time to share stories and celebrate her beautiful life will be held at Overtime (formerly Antonio’s) in South Bend, IN on October 22, 2023 at 2pm.
