Judy now needs the help she so often gave others.

JUDITH MARTIN's story by Erin Kelly.

Someone so special needs your help... after all her years of helping others, it’s time to ask others to give a little to help her.

I’ll try to keep this short…

Back in her earlier days, Judy (my Mum) was a midwife working in Melbourne hospitals. This later led her to a job change in Broome caring for babies and kids in a home for abandoned children.
Over the years Judy married and had her own children. Sadly, it didn’t end well and she became a single parent.
With no car she would walk kilometers to her job on a dairy farm just to provide for her daughter and son.
When her body could no longer take the heavy workload and her own children had left home, she moved on to provide childcare and homecare to others.
Later Judy was diagnosed with arthritis and when the pain eventually became too much, she realised it was time to take life a little easier.
She lived life as best she could but still wanting to be involved and help others Judy started volunteering for her local Red Cross and op shop, all the while regularly spending what time she could with her adored grandchildren.
Judy made some wonderful friends with her volunteer work and loved catching up a few times a week with them all.
Sadly, just before Christmas 2021, Judy had not long gotten home from one of her commitments and was making her lunch when she got an odd tingling feeling down her left side. She managed to call an ambulance and was rushed to the local hospital with a suspected stroke.
Tests and scans confirmed it was a hemorrhagic stroke, she was then urgently transferred to Monash Hospital in Melbourne.
During the first week Judy had two more bleeds on the brain which has since left her paralysed and has also affected her memory, hearing and sight.
Judy needs a little help as the wheelchair she has been provided with is not suited and causes her severe pain when sitting in it for even a short time.
Judy needs help with some upcoming medical expenses and the cost of a wheelchair that needs to be custom-built for her with added extras for comfort and support.
The wheelchair will give Judy some limited independence allowing her to be transported to see her beloved family and friends.
Sadly, Judy has minimal funds to support these needs after recently being placed into an aged care facility to cater to her high care needs.
Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated. Judy's such a proud person and would never ask for help herself. However, she does need it right now, and we would all be forever grateful.
