Judy Swain Malone medical expenses
Donation protected
On July 3, Judy Swain Malone, mother of 3 and grandmother of 12, fell getting out of bed in the middle of the night and hit her head, causing serious injury. She was taken to WakeMed Raleigh where she underwent brain surgery to repair a broken blood vessel and a broken vein. Her family thought she was on the road to a long recovery. She was still on life support, but could muster a thumbs up or a wiggle of her toes when requested.
On Monday, July 9, Judy had a seizure lasting 25 minutes. From that point on she did not respond to verbal or physical stimulation. Her family hoped for improvement but there was none. Extensive testing was performed and eventually doctors informed the family that Judy would never recover from her injuries.
Judy had previously expressed to her family she did not wish to not live on life support. In accordance with Judy's wishes her family came to the difficult decision to withdraw life support on Tuesday, July 24.
In delivering this news to friends and family, Judy's daughter Sandy stated, "We know the Savior Jesus Christ is the source of peace and feel his loving arms around our family. We believe in eternal families and we find comfort in knowing we will see her again in heaven. We will miss her tremendously and know others will too."
Your donation will help offset the extensive debt incurred during Judy's nearly month-long stay in the Neuro ICU. As you can imagine, Judy's husband of 40 years, Ken, is now faced with the seemingly insurmountable task of paying for Judy's medical bills as well as a modest memorial service. The family greatly appreciates any financial contribution in Judy's honor as well as the outpouring of support they have received from their friends and loved ones.
