JUDY TWARDZIK PRIMARY SCHOOL

Donation protected
As most of you know, Judy has terminal cancer and will not be with us much longer. If you are visiting this site, you already know the many things that she has been involved with during her life and her dedication to education. She has been a school volunteer, public school teacher, Shabbat School (Sunday School) coordinator and teacher, and seminary board member, just to name a few of her educational endeavors. As a founding board member of our international charity Opening Doors Worldwide, (see openingdoorsworldwide.org), her wise counsel was and still is always appreciated, and she advocated not only for direct funding for poor students at all levels, but the building of a primary school in a poor country where it is most needed. Unfortunately, we were not able to accomplish this as the cost was prohibitive and would have either taken several years to complete or other programs would need to be sacrificed.

It is nice to build a memorial or name something after someone after they have passed. But we believe that it is more fitting to honor those who justly deserve to be honored while they are still among us.This is going to be our gift to Judy. Opening Doors Worldwide has committed to build a primary school in Burkina Faso in West Africa at a location that we have already visited and call it "The Judy Twardzik Primary School." Since time is very important now, we want to begin construction as soon as possible, and have it complete with the dedication and naming before time runs out. The cost of a concrete 3 room structure, latrines, and support building is $45,000. If $75,000 is raised, we can double the number of classrooms to 6 and double the number of latrines. Once built, the school will be turned over to the government and they are obligated to provide teachers and supplies.

As a member of the ODW board, Judy got tears in her eyes when we decided earlier this year to start planning on building a primary school, even if it took a few years to complete. She will know that a school is being built but doesn't know anything about it's being named after her, so this part must remain hush hush. Once complete, we will be doing a short presentation on the construction of the school at the end of synagogue services one Friday evening when Judy is there, with the last slide shown being the finished product showing Judy's name on the school. She will be presented with a book which will contain all the names of all people who have donated to this cause (alphabetical and without any amounts) as a way of showing just how loved she is. We are hoping that some of her former students might have something up their sleeves as well.

Please spread the word to all your friends and family about this. If you know anyone who knows or knew Judy, pass this on to them as well. We cannot finish this in time without your help. Opening Doors Worldwide is a 501(C)3 charity, and all gifts are fully tax deductible, as no goods or services are received. If you prefer to send a check, send it to Opening Doors Worldwide PO Box 776 Dade City, Fl 33526-0776. Make it out to Opening Doors Worldwide and mark on the check "JT Fund". Cash donations are also welcome by mail or just handing them to someone informally, but we need to be able to trace them back so that a name can be added to the list. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL.
Our charity's motto is "If you think that you're too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito."
